About FURMAN University The Resident Session is held at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Founded in 1826, Furman is one of the nation's top liberal arts universities. Additionally, the campus has been named one of the most beautiful campuses in the country. Housing Students are housed in the North Village Apartments, a modern university complex. The air-conditioned apartments include a living room, kitchen equipped with refrigerator, stove and microwave, 4 single-occupancy bedrooms with a full-sized bed and 2 full baths. High speed internet is available in the apartments. Dining Breakfast and lunch is served daily in an upscale dining facility on campus. In the evenings, students are free to explore the many restaurants in Greenville. There are over 60 restaurants in the downtown region alone. Travel Greenville is serviced by the Greenville-Spartanburg airport (GSP). Sixteen airlines offer 77 non-stop daily flights to 19 cities. Additionally, Charlotte North Carolina is 100 miles away Cars are not necessary at Furman, since classrooms, dorms, and dining are all within walking distance. Some students chose to get rental cars, however, and are usually happy to arrange carpools for evening meals and outings. Parking permits for the dormitory or nearby lots are available. Miscellaneous Information Attire during the session is casual. If you plan to attend the graduation ceremony, business attire is required. Restaurants in Greenville for the most part are casual as well. Please keep in mind that July temperatures in South Carolina are warm, usually in the upper 80's, however the air-conditioned classrooms can be chilly. Plan to bring a sweatshirt or lightweight jacket for classes. |
